Translating pages, it is the text that is most important, so do translate text inside images, but you needn't spend time on formatting or lists. The structure of the page system means that hyperlinks have to be put in by hand anyway, so it is fine to just underline them (like this).

The most important pages to translate are: 1) The coverpage 2) The '/about/Altruism' page The other pages are due to be checked through, since most of them are about a year old, to make sure they're up to date. Since it's better to translate them after rather than before any revisions, you're recommended to concentrate on the ones above for the moment. If your language has a non-roman alphabet, please submit text in Unicode if possible. This is only likely to be a problem for languages where Unicode support is non-existant or not yet developed (e.g. Bengali). Please don't feel that you are just a translator. Be a critical reader! If you find anything that you disagree with or that isn't clear enough, get back the original author by EMail about it. Feedback and constructive criticism is definitely encouraged. Please, only write stuff, even in translation, that you personally agree with and are positive about.
2003-09-22	Content that is generated from a database cannot yet be displayed automatically. I plan to work on this sometime in the next few months - depending on the level of translations made. It can certainly be translated (in preparation for when the site can display it) but it should not be given first priority.
2003-09-22	As well as pages, the things that need translation are the explanatory text that helps people navigate around the site: The tagline at the top of the page "Pioneering Altruism as a viable social norm" The bold headings at the top and at the sides of the pages 'Hot Topics' etc. Note that, for technical reasons, the names in the tabstrips are not needed.
