Altruists Directory Submission Guidelines

The directory is strictly restricted to those sites inspired by altruism, i.e. created there for the benefit of the world as a whole. It is open to sites which are primarily non-commercial, promote harmony of thoughts, words and deeds within the individual and society, and are free of discriminatory or other selfish or objectifying content. Priority is given to lower publicity sites put up by individuals and not-for-profit groups.

Most Suitable Most Unsuitable
  • Promotes Altruism & love for others
  • Free Services such as Software, Reference etc.
  • Unselfish joint endeavours under GPL or similar public licence
  • Exposés and Public Interest Campaigns
  • Has helpful links to similar sites
  • No requests for money
  • Free of advertising
  • Appeals to base feelings such as fear, hate, lust, greed, jealousy etc.
  • Encourages selfishness, love for objects or other unsustainable practices
  • Sales literature
  • Site content under restrictive copyright
  • No links to any other sites or only affiliate links
  • Omnipresent appeals for funds
  • Deceitful adverts, pop-ups, affiliate schemes etc.

Company sites are rarely deemed to be altruistic enough for inclusion. However, the directory does contain one or two commercial sites. Since each case is different you should submit the site anyway if you are in doubt. Hey, we can only say "Thanks but no thanks"... :)
