Indian Language Equivalence

Imagine that someone wishes to sign the Bengali word '' (word) to another Indic sign language user, so he spells it out letter by letter, ++:

Bengali

Language

User

Bangla for Word =

Hindi

Language

User

= Hindi for Word

A common fingerspelling alphabet allows the deaf to communicate in spite of differences in pronunciation and writing!!

As well as a great degree of equivalence of both vowels and consonants, many of the major Indian languages have a lot of common vocabulary over and above names of people and places, allowing good communication between languages.
